Dr. Dale Iwanoczko Memorial Scholarship

Shane deRooy of the Lord Selkirk Regional Royals is a 6’ 4” left side player whose grade 12 grade point average is 93.5%. Shane had a very rewarding season where he was selected as the MVP of the UW Tournament, All-Star at the Selkirk Royals Spike Off, was selected as a MHSAA AAAA all-star, was selected as a MVA Graduating All-Star and also to the All-Manitoba Team, and was voted as the Winnipeg Suns #1 High School Player in the province. According to his coach, Shane’s strengths are his determination and work ethic in games and practices, and is a leader by example. Shane is also active in his school with the Basketball team, as a member of the Royals Sport Leadership team, and has volunteered at the Selkirk Junior High Suns & Stars ‘Dr. Dale Iwanoczko’ Development Camp. Shane’s aspirations are to play at a CIS program in Canada and hopes to make the Canadian Junior Team in the future and dreams of winning a world championship or Olympic medal for Canada.
