Morris Glimcher Student Manager Award

Leanne Ward has been student manager of the varsity girl's basketball team at Dakota for the last two years.  She became involved after a knee injury and asked coach Ray Houssin if she could become Manger.  Coach Houssin stated that Leanne defined her own role and importance to her team.  She took on the role of equipment manager, tournament organizer, athletic therapist, fundraiser and team liaison with the school administration.  She coordinated the fund raising campaign for the team trip to Calgary and this effort raised over $5,000.00.  In addition to her fund raising and athletic therapy duties she also was in charge of team statistics and looking after the needs of the team.  She is hoping to going to College to work in the area of resource management.
