Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Sarah Townsend of the Linden Christian Wings basketball team.

This 5’9” guard led the Wings to victory at the St. Norbert Celtic Classic.  She averaged 33 points per game over the tournament, including a career high 40 points in the final that included 11 three pointers.  For her efforts she was named the tournament MVP.  Coach Madison Kinzel states, “Reliable, athletic, and talented just begins to describe Sarah Townsend. With her dedicated work behind the scenes before the season started, Sarah will be a key component to the Linden Christian Wings varsity girls team this season. Sarah brings her full effort to every practice and game while being a team leader and dedicated player not only in improving her own skills, but to help her teammates be the best players they can be.  Sarah is a great player to coach and I look forward to seeing her develop as the season continues".

This grade 12 student maintains a 90% average, while also participating in volleyball, curling, badminton, and track & field.
