Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Dominic Picard of the Somerset Lions basketball team is this week’s Tri-Star Rural High School athlete of the week. This 6’1” centre/point guard led his 6th ranked Lions to their first ever Provincial JV A/AA Championship. He averaged 20 points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds per game through the championship and earned MVP honors for his efforts. Coach Nathan Ramage states, “Dominic is the true leader of the Somerset Lions JV basketball team. On and off the court he leads by example and is a great student athlete to coach. He motivates his team and is a very unselfish player. He averages 38-40 minutes a game playing center on defense and point guard on offense”. This grade 10 student maintains an 84% average, while also participating in cross-country and track & field.
