Welcome

On behalf of Zone 13, Sagkeeng Anicinabe High School, and Sagkeeng First Nation, I would like to welcome all of the participating teams to this year's MHSAA "AA" Varsity Girls Provincial Basketball Championship.  We are excited to share our school and community with teams from across the province.  We have teams from Zones 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, and 13, representing a large georgraphic area of the province, and making it truly feel like a Provincial Championship.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank the MHSAA, our Title Sponsor; the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba, and all of the other sponsors of this event.  We would also like to thank the volunteers, staff at SAHS and our local sponsors for helping to make this event run smoothly as possible.

If there is any additional information required about this event, please do not hesitate to contact me at the information listed on this page.

Good luck everyone, we look forward to this being a fun and exciting tournament!

Provincial Convener - AA Varsity Girls Provincial Basketball Championship

Greetings from the MHSAA

Welcome!

On behalf of the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, and its member schools, welcome to the 2019 MILK ‘AA’ Provincial High School Basketball Championships.

Over 5,000 student athletes participate in high school basketball in Manitoba every year, making it one of our largest sports. A great deal of hard work has gone into practice, matches and tournaments in preparation for this Championship. All teams have now focused their attention on this weekend with the goal of becoming Provincial Champions. We wish you success as you strive to achieve your ultimate goal and hope that the Provincials will be a special memory for you all.

Thank you to the organizing committee for your efforts in hosting this event. The support of all the student and staff volunteers is very much appreciated and is a very valued component to the overall success of this Championship.

A very special Thank You to our Title Sponsor, MILK. The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba’s strong and continued commitment to high school sport in our Province is invaluable.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our major corporate partners for their tremendous support – Boston Pizza, McDonalds, Manitoba’s Credit Unions, Wilson, Payworks, Manitoba Hydro, Manitoba Physiotherapists Association, Awards & More and Sport Manitoba.

Congratulations to all who will be competing for the coveted title of MHSAA Provincial Champions.

Championship Information

Information for finding our school is located below.  From the intersection of HWYs 11 and 304, head north over the dam on 304.  There is an old XTR gas station that is no longer in service, turn left at the road before it.  The school is down Northshore Rd, roughly 7 minutes ahead on the right.

The main hotel that has been block booked for this weekend is the Papertown Motor Inn, located in Powerview.  It is on Hwy 304, just south of the intersection with Hwy 11.

The opening ceremonies and banquet will take place at 6:30pm at Sagkeeng JR High.  It is located on HWY 11.  To get there from the hotel, travel West on HWY 11 through the town of Powerview-Pine Falls, and through the south side of Sagkeeng.  You will pass through the Fort Alexander townsite, and the school is on the left toward the end of the reserve.  The banquet is free for all athletes, coaches, and volunteers at this event.  If anyone else is wishing to attend, a donation of $10 is requested, payable to Sagkeeng Anicinabe High School.  Please RSVP the number of attendees from your delegation to Andrew by Monday March 11.  Thank you.

Photos

During the event we had some of our photography students taking photos during the games.  The photos can be accessed at this link.  If anyone has any photos they would like to add to this album, please contact Andrew Klaprat with them and he will do so.
