Sports: Hockey

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Rebecca Thevenot of the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes girls hockey team.

This 5’6” centre has 16 goals, 6 assists for 22 points in 16 games.  During that span she recorded 1 shorthanded goal, 3 game winning goals and had back to back hat tricks.  Coach Jim Webster states, “Becky is all hustle, from her fore-check to her back-check and she never gives up on the play. She also has a lot of fun while playing hockey and is continually giggling and laughing with her friends prior to games and even on the bench, taking things seriously but looking for the humour and fun as well. With all of her success on the ice, she remains as humble as ever”.

This grade 11 student maintains an 88% average in the IB diploma program at Miles Macdonell.
