The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Jack Mandryk of the Lord Selkirk Royals volleyball team.

This 5’11” setter plays an important role as the quarterback of the Royals offense.  He had a great impact on the season, which put the Royals in a strong position heading into the Boston Pizza Provincial Volleyball Championships and a second place finish in KPAC.  Coach Jeff Scarcello states, “Jack is a very determined athlete and has a very high volleyball IQ. He is passionate about the sport and despite his naturally quiet and calm demeanor he plays the game with lots of intensity. He is a lot of fun to work with as he has a great sense of humour and is a great listener and student of the game”.

In grade 11, he maintains a 77% academic average.
