The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Annaliese Meier of the Sturgeon Heights Huskies hockey team.

This 5’4” center has 38 points in 13 games, leading the WWHSHL in points, as a grade 10 player. She was also named to the All-Star team for the second year in a row.  Coach Greg Mason states, “Anna was named one of our assistant captains this year as a grade 10 player because of her leadership on and off the ice. She is a voice of calm in the dressing room when a game is not going our way and looks to encourage others and offers assistance when teammates are struggling. She works hard at practice to develop her individual skills but also takes time to help teammates”. 

In grade 10, she maintains a 73% academic average.
