Michelle Ruston

Glenboro (A)

Sports: Basketball

The Powerland Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Michelle Ruston of the Glenboro Panthers basketball team.

This 5’6” wing led the Panthers to tournament victories at the Glenboro Christmas Classic and at the Souris Shootout. She was named the MVP of the Souris tournament and an all-star at the Glenboro tournament.  She also leads the team in rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and efficiency per game. Coach Ryan Zadorozny states, “Michelle is the most versatile player that I have coached. I feel comfortable putting Michelle on the court in any position on offense or defense, and I struggle to take her off the court! Michelle has always put a lot of pride in her defensive ability and she actually gets more excited about getting steals and blocks than she does about points. Michelle has played basketball since Grade 9 and has always been the kid in the gym working to get better at the game”.

This Grade 12 student maintains an 85% academic average, while also participating in volleyball, badminton, fastpitch, and track & field.
