Madelyn Mandryk

St. Mary's Academy (AAAA)

Sports: Cross Country Track Volleyball

Madelyn Mandryk of the St. Mary’s Academy Flames volleyball team is this week’s Home Run Sports Urban High School athlete of the week.

This 5’8” setter capped off an impressive season by leading her team to win the school’s first ever Boston Pizza “AAAA” Volleyball Provincial Championship.  For her efforts she was named the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Player’s Choice Award recipient and was selected to the championship All-Star team.  She was also named the #5 Player in the annual Winnipeg Sun Top Ten Players Poll.  Coach Christine Rewniak states, “Madelyn is one of the hardest working players I have ever had the pleasure of coaching. Not only is she a tremendous athlete, but she is also extremely coachable, has a very positive attitude, and is a strong leader.  She is a fantastic jump-setter and runs our offence with confidence and consistency. She makes smart decisions and is also a threat at the net with her attacking and blocking abilities”.

In her grade 12 year she maintains an academic average of 84%, while also competing in cross-country and track & field.
