Sports: Badminton Basketball Volleyball

Arnold Cook of the Mel Johnson Eagles Volleyball team in Wabowden is this week’s Tri-Star Rural High School athlete of the week.

This 5’9” setter led his team to victory at the Grand Rapids tournament and the Zone 11 finals, qualifying the team for the “A” Provincial Volleyball Championships in Pilot Mound.  During provincials he earned player of the game honours.  Coach Brenda Tozer states, “Arnold is dedicated to school and sports and is a person who has accepted and performed well as a leader in and out of the class and on and off the court.  No matter what the adversity they hit this year he kept the team going.”

In his grade 12 year he maintains an academic average of 80%, while also competing in basketball and badminton.
