Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Owen Schwartz of the Lord Selkirk Royals volleyball team.

This 6’4” left side received MVP honours at the Mennonite Brethren Invitational Tournament this past weekend. He has now led the Royals to 6 straight tournament wins this season. Coach Jeff Scarcello states, “Owen is a great player who has a natural talent and instinct for the game. He is extremely dedicated and hard-working and demonstrates a passion for the sport rarely seen in other athletes. When a game isn't going well, he is able to play with a lot of poise and make the big play needed to settle the team down”.

In grade 12, he maintains an 89% academic average, while also participating in basketball, baseball, and badminton.
