Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Powerland Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Ian Penner of the Steinbach Christian Flames basketball team.

This 5’9” point guard led the Flames in scoring, averaging 20 points, 7 assists and 5 steals per game.  He helped his team earn a spot at this year’s Provincial “AA” Basketball Championships.  Coach Dewayne Penner states, “Ian provided steady leadership on and off the floor, making a big impact on the floor, despite suffering through a few injuries throughout the season. Ian really stepped up for his team. Ian is an excellent playmaker, with the ability to finish around the rim and make the outside shot”.

This Grade 12 student maintains a 72% academic average, while also participating in volleyball.
