Manitoba's Credit Unions Scholar Athlete

Deanna Beachell of Warren Collegiate participates in cross country running, volleyball, basketball, badminton, track & field.  This 96% student was recognized as an outstanding basketball player by receiving a McDonald's BEST basketball scholarship.  She was selected to play on the provincial basketball graduating all-star team and was also a member of the provincial finalists in volleyball.  Deanna is student council room representative, grad committee member, student voice member, and is a junior high basketball coach and is very active with church activities.  Deanna states "….being involved in sports means being part of a team.  We are taught to work together and cooperate.  We learn to appreciate the value of other people's abilities and see the results of combined efforts.  We learn to play fair and treat our opponents, coaches and fellow teammates with respect.  Social skills are acquired as we meet new people, make new friend and make bonds that will endure both on and off the playing field…."
