Payworks Coach of the Month

Marty Balcaen of Vincent Massey Collegiate has been selected as the SUBWAY Urban high school coach of the month for April. He began his badminton career as a singles player in Robert Stanners’ program at Collège Louis Riel and was a member of the CLR team that won the 1996 MHSAA Championship. Marty has been at Vincent Massey since the 2005. His passion for the game, and wonderful rapport with students have helped to further build our school-based badminton program. His attention to detail helps our players reach their fullest potential. Marty encourages players to give back by mentoring young coaches. Since 2005, his coaching has lead Massey to win several WWAC Team titles, as well as MHSAA Team Championship titles including 2007-2008, 2009-2010, 2010-2011, and 2011-2012. This past season, Massey placed second in the MHSAA Team Championships on May 4th, 2013.
