Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Sam Gurke of the Alonsa/McCreary Mavericks volleyball team. 

He has been a crucial part of the success of the Mavericks team this season. He led the team to win the TRSD Divisional Tournament where he earned all-star honors. He followed that up by earning tournament MVP with the team winning the Ste. Rose Celtics Clash tournament. Coach Dan Macfarlane states, "Sam has a positive attitude, and his work ethic, strong passing, and consistent offence help his team out when they are in tough situations."

He has an academic average of 88% in his Grade 11 courses, while also participates in soccer, basketball, curling, badminton, and track throughout the school year.
