Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Surrey Smith of the Hamiota huskies basketball team.

Smith helped lead her team to win their Regional Qualifier and qualify for the Provincial "A" basketball Championships.  At the Championship she led her team to a Bronze Medal where she averaged 19 points and 25 rebounds and was named a Provincial All-Star. Coach Mason Metcalf states, "Surrey has been a massive part of her team being ranked 2nd all season long. In her first year playing basketball, she has adapted and learned the game faster than most. Surrey dominated the paint all season long and was our defensive rock. She was a force to be reckoned with and teams had to game plan around her offensively and defensively".

In grade 11 she maintains a 95% academic average.
