Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Sam Sola of the Sturgeon Heights Huskies basketball team.

Sola, a dynamic defender on the Huskies helped lead the team to a WWAC Conference Championship and silver medal at the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba AAAA Basketball Championships. He was voted the top defensive player at H.I.T. 2023 tournament earlier this season and averaged 17.5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals per game this season. Coach Stephen Tackie states, "Sam Sola is a most deserving athlete. He can impact the game in so many ways even when tasked with guarding the other team's top player. Great at guarding the ball, and great at help side defense, Sam is a defensive wizard and has the capabilities to control the game with his defensive.  Sam's impact on this year's Huskies basketball team is nothing short of sensational". 

In grade 12 he maintains an 85% academic average.
