Gord Nixon of Major Pratt School

Gord coached Volleyball, Hockey, Fast Pitch and Baseball at the school in Russell. He has had a coaching and teaching career that has spanned over 46 years and has been at Major Pratt School since 1992.

He has led the Varsity Boys Volleyball team to a Provincial Championship four times, in addition to a Fast Pitch Championship and Baseball Championships. He was the Grey Cup Legacy Coach of the Year in 2003, received a Certificate of Recognition in 2011, and the Nick Laping Leadership Award recipient in 2013.

Gord was on the committee for the restructuring of the A/AA Provincial Championship structure for Volleyball and Basketball and has hosted 10 Provincial Championships for Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Fast Pitch, and Baseball, and was an integral part of many Host committees for Provincials. He was always willing to assist the MHSAA if a host school was needed or a gym was required to hold a wildcard game.

He has built the legacy of Major Pratt athletics and there would not be the programs there are today without his commitment, expertise, and passion for school sport.
