Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Nixon Carriere of the Garden City Gophers baseball team.

Carriere had a really strong baseball season leading the Gophers to a KPAC and Provincial Championship.  His play at the Provincial Championships earned him MVP honors.  Coach Rhys Morris states, "Nixon hit 5 home runs over the season, especially a huge home run in the bottom of the 1st inning to spark a huge offensive game for the Gophers. Nixon was a huge leader throughout the course of the season and was a staple in our lineup, hitting 4 hole every game. Nixon also pitched a gem in the semi-final vs. Steinbach, going 5 strong innings". 

This grade 12 student will be graduating this month and moving onto play baseball at the collegiate level.
