Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Danika Nell of the Vincent Massey Trojans fast pitch team.

Nell led the Vincent Massey Trojans to their first ever Provincial Fast Pitch title. The team went undefeated over the course of the weekend. Danika racked up 58 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched, allowing only one run scored. On the offensive side, her batting average was .500 which included 2 homeruns, one of which was a walk off grand slam in the semi finals. Her efforts also helped her claim a second consecutive MVP honour at the Championship. Coach Mandy Wolfe states, "Danika is a great leader on and off the field. Her devotion and love for the sport is infectious." Earlier this year she was also a member of the Provincial Finalists Varsity Girls Volleyball team, where she was named a tournament All-Star.

In grade 11, she maintains a 98% academic average.
