Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Maxime Vermette of the Collège regional Gabrielle Roy Les Roy volleyball team.

This 6'2" setter is captain of Les Roy and helped lead them to a fourth-place finish at the Daniel McIntyre tournament, and this week he drove the offence to a second-place finish at the Lord Selkirk tournament. Coach Daniel Lother states, " He is a very dynamic player at the position of setter. He leads the team in blocks and is also one of the stronger attackers on the team. He is a reliable player who strives to keep the fight alive. He is quick at solving problems on the court and runs a creative offence. Max is also one of the most positive team leaders that a coach can hope for.  He brings this positivity to practices, games and his cool, calm and collected presence helps to diffuse and bring a bright light to intense or stressful moments in the game. The other players in the team really appreciate his interpersonal skills in addition to his stellar play on the court, and rally around him because of that". 

He maintains excellent grades in all his courses and excels in mathematics, sciences, and languages.
