Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Bethany Carter of the Gabrielle Roy Les Roys volleyball team.

This talented multi-sport athlete, is the starting left side and led her team’s offence in kills to lead Les Roys to the Provincial "AA" Volleyball Championship title in Lac du Bonnet this past weekend. Carter was named MVP for her outstanding performance at provincials. Prior to this she led her team to the Zone 13 championship in convincing form, led her team in kills at the Provincial Qualifiers to claim the team's spot at the Provincial Championship and was named to the Winnipeg Free Press Annual Coaches Poll of Top 10 Players at #9 on the list. Coach Alain Hebert states, "She is a great leader for our team and knows how to fight for every point the team needs regardless of score. Bethany is as impressive a hitter from the backrow as she is at the net. She characteristically overpowers the opponent’s blockers and diggers. Bethany is not only a vocal leader on the court, but also leads by example. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and it helps rally the girls to heighten their performances". 

In grade 12 she maintains an 86% average, while also competing in fast pitch, soccer and basketball at the school. She has committed with the University of Manitoba Bisons next year.
