Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Abbey Shand of the Churchill Bulldogs basketball team.

After seven regular season games, this point guard has led her Bulldogs team to second place in the Varsity Tier 2 division standings of the Winnipeg 1 league and to the #9 spot in the MHSAA AAA Manitoba Hydro Power Ranking. Last week, she averaged the rare triple-double with 37 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds per game. In addition, she also averaged 7 steals per game. Coach Kevin Shand states, "As Captain of our team, Abbey is leading by example and her assists this year are a testament to her commitment to make everyone better. She is just being the ultimate team player."

This grade 12 student maintains a 94% academic average.
