Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Avery Shortridge of the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes hockey team.

Shortridge is a powerful force for the Buckeyes, with 10 goals and 11 assists in 16 games this season leading all defenceman in Division 2 of the MWHSHL. Coach Janelle Yarjau states, "While being a key defensive asset to her team, Avery is just as strong offensively, consistently putting up points for the Buckeyes. Avery has proven time and time again that she can command the play on the ice. She generates opportunities for her teammates, and she defends her team with her physical play, speed and high hockey IQ. Avery is a leader both on and off the ice and she brings out the confidence in her teammates. She is dedicated to being the best player she can be for herself and for her teammates. Avery is truly invaluable to the Buckeyes".

This grade 11 student maintains a 91% academic Average.
