The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Kearley Abbott of the St. Mary’s Academy Flames volleyball team.

This 5’10”, grade 11, middle has been integral to the success of the Flames to start the year.  She has help lead the team to a second place finish at the Crocus Plains tournament and the championship of the Royal Rumble tournament in Selkirk, where she was named MVP.  At Selkirk she had a hitting efficiency of 40%, a serve-in percentage of 100% with a server rating of 2.46, and provided the team with 7.5 stuff blocks. Coach Christine Rewniak states, “Kearley is a 6-rotation middle who is highly skilled in both front and back row. She is extremely strong physically and a very aggressive attacker and blocker. She is also exceptionally quick, plays great defence and has a very effective jump-serve. Kearley is a very hard-working athlete who is always striving to improve. She leads by example and her smile and enthusiasm on the court is contagious”.
