Athlete of the Year

Dara McLean of Glenboro School is the 2001 Jostens Female Manitoba High School Athlete of the Year.  Dara participates in volleyball, basketball, badminton, track & field and softball.  She was selected to the graduating all-star team in both volleyball and basketball and was also selected as an all-star at both of those provincial championships.  Dara was selected as the number two ranked female volleyball player in the province, and was recognized with most valuable player honors at the University of Winnipeg tournament, and received all-star recognition at the Glenboro and St. Pierre tournaments.  In basketball she was selected as an all-star at the Provincial Championships and Portage Tournament.  Dara is also an outstanding track & field athlete, having captured medals in shot put and javelin at the provincial rural meet and took gold in javelin at this year's McDonald's Provincial Championship.  She has been invited to join the volleyball team participating in this year's Canada Games.
